Lasted for 23 minutes 49 seconds, the show
starts by introducing a young, blond detective with catchphrase: “The truth
will always come to light”.

Kaitou spies on the police, intending to
steal the painting, Adam’s Smile but was caught by surprise when Aoko suddenly shows up
saying he’s the culprit. Aoko then laughed at the boy, telling him about a
famous foreign detective from London. They were apparently at an ice skating
rink next to the museum Kaitou intend to steal from. He was then taken back to
a conversation with Jii regarding a hidden jewel behind the abstract painting
Adam’s Smile.
Meanwhile at the museum, the said foreign detective introduces
himself as Hakuba Saguru, a detective, as well as the son of Superintendent
Hakuba. The young detective then bombarded questions to Inspector Nakamori as a show to
belittle the inspector’s skill and consistent failures. Kaitou on the other
hand have disguised himself as a police officer and successfully infiltrated
the museum. However, Hakuba found out about it while patrolling the area.
While getting the
painting, Hakuba came upon Kid, noting to him that he was 13 seconds late.
Hakuba also cut off Kid’s mean of escaping, sure of his victory against the
thief. Kid then flashily told him that secret is a magician’s life and it is
impossible for Hakuba to unravel his tricks that easily. Kid then escape out
the window with his glider, although the strong wind worked against him. Kid
managed to escape but Hakuba got the data he needed.
The next day at school, Hakuba shows up in
Kaitou’s class as a transfer student. Back in Blue Parrot, Kaitou was dejected
that the jewel is not the one he was looking for. Even so, he continues to plan for the next jewel to steal. At school, Aoko flaunted her
win of two tickets to a concert. She was going to invite Kaitou, but his
non-interest in it angered her and it was then that Hakuba enters the scene,
barging his way to be invited by Aoko if he could stop Kid from stealing a
jewel that night.
The unofficial challenged was accepted by Kaitou, claiming
that Hakuba can never win against Kid. Despite standing on the side of police,
Aoko secretly wishes for Kid to succeed so that she doesn’t have to go to the
concert with Hakuba. Kid however, was caught with Hakuba in the basement, amidst
tear gas that Hakuba released, intending to capture Kid with it.
Kid took the gas mask from Hakuba then,
disguised as the young detective and fled, without the jewel since Hakuba
managed to fool him in the end. Aoko on the other hand, as a result to the tie
between Hakuba and Kid the Phantom Thief, had to go to the concert with her
equally uninterested father who dozed off throughout the show.
