Mountain People maintaining King Duke Mu summer house. |
After the exhausting emotional and physical
ride for a whole night, Xin fainted. Wanting to hurry to the rendezvous point with Minister Chang Wenjun, Ying Zheng initially wanted to leave Xin behind. However, at Diao insistent, he
reluctantly carried Xin throughout the journey, stopping only when he was exhausted himself. Only
after Xin finally awaken, they continued their journey, crossing rivers,
climbing the mountains and through the woods. Unknown to the 3 escapees, Muta the
assassin was hot on their trail.
After 3 days of running, they finally reach
the rendezvous place, an old summer house from 400 years before belonged to
King Duke Mu. They decided to rest while waiting for Minister Chang Wenjun to arrive. Over
a surprisingly delicious meal prepared by Diao using the ingredients Minister Chang
Wenjun had prepared beforehand, Ying Zheng told them the story of the wise King Duke
Mu and his strong bond with the Mountain People.
King Duke Mu’s war horse was
once taken by the Mountain People, and was cooked as a meal. Instead of being
angry, King Duke Mu sent the horse thieves liquor that went well with horse
meat. His action deeply moved the hearts of the Mountain People, forging
an alliance that was never tried before. His kindness toward the Mountain People
wasn’t forgotten even after 400 years thus explained the well-maintained
forgotten house.
The next day, while Diao was picking fruits around the area
nearby, the assassin Muta arrived, fixing his poison dart that aimed at Diao. Fortunately, Xin managed to stop Muta in-time before he could blow his darts. Meanwhile, the pursuing
army was slowly closing in on Xin’s group, following Muta’s mark.
